Itinerary

Meet in Flagstaff and shuttle north through sweeping high desert landscapes to Tusayan, the gateway to Grand Canyon National Park. After a bike fit and orientation, hop on the park shuttle and spend the afternoon exploring the South Rim’s iconic overlooks, the interactive Visitor Center, and the Yavapai Geology Museum. Stretch your legs on the Trail of Time, a walk through 2 billion years of geologic history, or opt for a warm-up ride along the paved greenway toward the canyon rim. After an afternoon of exploration, settle in and get ready for the miles ahead. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ • Overnight - Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel or similar • Van Transfer - 1.5 hrs.

Today’s ride takes you along a scenic route into Grand Canyon National Park, with dramatic views of the South Rim as your reward. This out-and-back is a feast for the eyes, giving you time to explore the overlooks before cruising back to Tusayan. Our turnaround point is the historic Hermit’s Rest, a rustic stone structure designed in 1914 by Mary Colter. Built in the rustic 'Parkitecture' style, it uses native stone and timber to blend naturally into the surrounding canyon landscape. With its massive stone fireplace and thoughtful craftsmanship, it stands as both a scenic overlook and a cultural landmark reflecting early 20th-century design in America’s national parks. You can hop on the National Park shuttle at one of the stops along the way to adjust your mileage for the day. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ • Overnight: Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel or similar • Cycling: Up to 37 mi / 60 km, Elevation gain: 2,400 ft / 730 m

After a shuttle, pedal through one of the most striking geological corridors in northern Arizona. Start your ride near the lava fields and cinder cones of Sunset Crater, then descend into the open desert toward Wupatki National Monument. This stark and beautiful landscape is home to remarkably preserved ancestral Puebloan dwellings, built between 1100 and 1225 CE. These ancient pueblos, some with ball courts and multi-story structures, offer a glimpse into a vibrant community that flourished here nearly 900 years ago. The ride offers a mix of quiet roads, expansive views, and cultural richness. After today’s ride, hop in the van for a shuttle to our cozy accommodations for the evening. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ • Overnight: Residence Inn or similar • Cycling: 34 mi / 55 km, Elevation gain: 1,350 ft / 410 m • Van Transfer: 2.5 hrs.

Meals:  B

Roll out from the high country of Flagstaff and descend through oak forest into the technicolor red rocks of Sedona. The ride through Oak Creek Canyon is a thrilling blend of sweeping descents and winding turns, framed by dense oak forest and dramatic canyon walls. As you drop into Sedona, the scenery shifts to sandstone formations that have long drawn artists, adventurers, and spiritual seekers. Once home to the Sinagua people and later a quiet ranching town, Sedona blossomed into a haven for outdoor recreation and Southwestern charm. If you prefer not to ride today, you can also opt to be transferred to tonight’s hotel and stroll to a nearby trailhead or explore town on foot or by bike. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ • Overnight: Arroyo Pinion or similar • Cycling: 33 mi / 53 km, Elevation loss: 3,500 ft / 1,070 m

Meals:  B

Enjoy a relaxed final day of riding through Sedona’s red rock backroads and Verde Valley farmlands. The red rocks gradually give way to lush farmland, cottonwood-lined creeks, and a patchwork of vineyards and orchards that thrive along the valley floor. Your destination is Page Springs Cellars, a celebrated winery nestled on the banks of Oak Creek. Known for its Rhône-style reds and sustainable growing practices, the winery offers a serene setting to toast the week’s journey. Sip wine on the shaded terrace overlooking the vines, dip your feet in the creek, and reflect on a wonderful week before a return shuttle back to the hotel. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ • Overnight: Arroyo Pinion or similar • Cycling: 25 mi / 40 km, Elevation gain: 1,300 ft / 400 m • Van Transfer: 15 min.

Moderate. Self guided walking or cycling requires individuals to use problem solving skills, be adaptable and have a keen eye. It is recommended that you are comfortable map reading, referring to route notes and that you have a good sense of direction (or are willing to work on improving this!). Cyclists will be expected to know how to fix a flat tire and make basic adjustments to their bicycles using the included repair kit. This trip is ideal for cyclists who are comfortable riding 25–37 miles per day on paved roads with moderate to significant elevation change. Expect a mix of terrain, from steady climbs and rolling hills to long, scenic descents, most notably the 3,500-foot drop from Flagstaff to Sedona. You’ll ride on a mix of designated bike routes, low-traffic highways, and park roads, some with limited shoulder. While the trip is self-guided, daily luggage transfers and thoughtfully placed shuttles reduce logistical stress and allow for shorter ride options on select days. A good level of fitness, comfort with shifting terrain, and confidence riding alongside occasional vehicle traffic will help ensure an enjoyable experience.
